E is for Envy

Spring Break in Nashville (con’t.)

When I first walked into Little Sister’s (LS) kitchen in her new “Green” house and saw the wonderful stove and counter work space, I could feel myself going green around the gills with Envy. LOL! “Green” House, "Green" with Envy……sometimes I just crack myself up! Back to Envy! This is one serious kitchen with workspace and storage galore.

LS, the scientist is very conscious of global warming and the effects it is having on our planet. As a result she is totally dedicated to ecology.  Hence the “Green/Leed” house.

LS and B-I-L shed major blood, sweat and tears during the building process of their new home. It took not  the projected months but years for this dream to become a reality. Knowing the anguish she/they suffered,  all I can say is the finished product was worth it all.  It is ExquisiteThey are truly living their convictions. Unlike so many, (ahem me!) LS put her money where her mouth is. She and B-I-L are true to their beliefs. I wish I had the strength to step out of the box and go for it the way she did. Do you hear another ‘little’ touch of Envy.

Let me get back to that stove………

Look at it……

Go on admit it…. You're feeling it too!  A little twinge of that Green Eyed Monster:  Envy

Sounds great. I find it hard to put my convictions where my mouth is too. I suppose I just feel that until changes are made at government policy level it is hard to create any great change in the enviromental front.
I'd go green to have that stove though!!

LOL! I just have to watch makeover/ property programmes and I'm envious of those who can afford to revamp their homes,
I'm still feeling under par, thanks, but trying to feel better :O)

Aww Ann, you are so nice, but I'm envious of your house a stones throw from the Sea in Abbeyside! We haven't got our certification yet (LEED), should be through in the next few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for us that all goes well. http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=1988

Oh, man, I hear you. It is easy when it is there and gorgeous and perfect to be envious and forget the angst it took to GET it there...

I try to be green as well. But I don't have a cool kitchen, just a little one with energy efficient appliances.

I am. I love to cook and dream of an enormous kitchen for entertaining. Congrats to LS on the green house. I plan to start a vegetable garden this spring. Good luck with the challenge!

I always intend to do things in a green way but it takes such a lot of effort and commitment. I do admire your sister... and as for that cooker, mine is so small that if I put a chicken in to roast there's no room for anything else!

Okay, yes. I hate to admit that I'm having stove envy, but WOW!

Now it is a bit of a wonder you didn't slip a bit of the Irish in this one. But E for the green-eyed monster does it well. Yes, stove envy, a new one to add to my list ha ha.

I'm green with envy over ANYONE who has a house of their own. I can't afford one here in my town :( The stupid mining boom has ruined everything!

Oooo, I am envious of this stove.

A couple of years ago, I looked at an open house in my neighborhood. The kitchen was so fantastic, I didn't know how awful mine was until I saw it. Sigh.

As a general rule, I try not to be envious. I have so many good things in my life. I'd rather dwell on that. But a nice stove... an agent... a bigger house... a publishing contract... .

Envy is one of the seven deadly sins. I ask for forgiveness especially after giving some one a gift wanting it for yourself is only human, especiall y if it is Vera Wang.

Envy doesn't quite cover how I feel about that stove. Covet maybe? :-)

Writers and envy have a long and treacherous history I'm afraid.

Love your blog!
