C is for Clonea

Clonea Strand

Bet I Can Get 5000 People That Love Dungarvan

Clonea Strand is a long, sloping stretch of golden sand. It spans over a mile and ranks among Dungarvan's most popular spots for locals and visitors alike. Clonea Strand is less than a five minute drive from Dungarvan. Approximately 5km/3miles. For the more energetic there is a wonderful bike and jogging trail.

A brisk walk on Clonea after Sunday lunch was always popular in my family. No matter the weather or time of day, whether calm or wild, with its scenic views, crashing waves and changing skies, the beauty and wildness always manages to take my breath away.

There are rock pools a plenty to explore when the tide is out and an array of watersports on offer when the tide is in. With a lifeguard on patrol during the swimming season, it is safe for young and old alike. One of my favorite spots in the whole world. Clonea Strand.
