Awards and Thank You's

Olive at Movie News First and Write Olive gave me this award awhile ago.  Thank you so much Olive. I'm chuffed!

The Rules for the Award are; thank the person who bestowed the award! Share seven things about yourself and pass the award along to bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic.
So here it goes...

1. I am petrified of rodents.  Especially the mouse or mice that seem to have taken up residence behind my cooker.  That is why I am hiding out upstairs!

2. I am trying to write a story, but my MC seems to have taken a little holiday.  I am hoping she returns soon.

3. I hate, hate, hate to sew!

4. I have more books than I can read beside both my bed in Wisconsin and my bed in Ireland and yet I buy more.

5. When feeling a need to take a break from the world, I call a pajama day, head for the sofa and put on Pride and Prejudice.  God help anyone who disturbs me unless it is to bring me a nice hot cup of tea!

6. A long hot lavender bath can soothe most of my ills.

7. I savour that very first cup of tea in the morning. Pure heaven.

Now the time has come to pass this award on.  This is the hard part.  So many wonderful, versatile blogs! And if you have gotten this award before...well you deserve it again!

1. Barbara  at From My Kitchen Table
2. Karen at Get On With It
3. Brigid at Sort of Writing
4. Niamh at Words A Day
5. Tabitha at Through My Eyes
6. Lola at Sharp Pen/Dull Sword
7. Talei at Musings of an aspiring scribe

A loud and vigorous bualadh bos (Irish for clapping or applause)to Karen Gowen over at Coming Down the Mountain: From Reclusive Writer to Published Author   for hosting a spectacular Blogging Labour Day BBQ.  It has been such fun finding so many new writerly bloggers.  Not to mention the calorie free delights that were brought to the table. Take a bow Karen!

I also want to thank and welcome all the new followers to Inkpots n' Quills.  I look forward to getting to know you all better.
Have a wonderful Monday.

You hate sewing? I can't believe it!!! I love to sew, I made my very own homecoming dress, sun dresses, and blankets, I love to sew, it's so fun!

A cup of tea is delicious :)

LOL- I don't like to sew either.

I think I'll follow your pyjama day but instead of Pride and Prejudice, it'll be Sense and Sensibility - the one with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet? Sigh. I think I'll do that now!

CONGRATULATIONS with your fab award and your fab followers and wasn't KarenG's bbq blogfest terrific?!?! Lovely!

Take care
x

Hi Jen, I do envy people who can and enjoy sewing. Really I do. But whenever I take a needle in hand it is pure disaster.

Hi Summer, High Five!

Hi Kitty, Sense and Sensibility is a good choice for a PJ afternoon! Karen's BBQ was just wonderful. Congrats on all your new followers too!

Hi Ann! Thankyou for the award, I'm with you all the way on the morning tea and lavender baths! A bath cures an awful lot for me! Sorry to hear about your mc going on holiday! Keep pestering her! Or maybe one of the other characters has something to tell you! All the best
Niamh

Hi Ann - congrats with the award :) And I watch P & P for that reason too, seriously no one can beat the BBC version with Colin Firth.. No one.

Thanks Ann, a big bualadh bos to you for passing on the award.
I will have a think and list my seven things.
Loved yours.

I loved Karen's BBQ.

It was nice to learn a few things about you. I like the idea of having a day to yourself to lounge around, watching a movie you love and sipping tea.

I'm not a big fan of rodents either!

I hope your MC returns soon too.

I wonder what I can do to gain more readers of my blog. Sometimes I think what I write must not be interesting but then the few that read what I write usually tell me otherwise. How did you get so many followers? What suggestions could you offer someone who loves writing but has no readers?
Oh and number 5 and 7 I agree with you completely but I find mice adorable and am not afraid of them at all. Think of micky mouse when you see them and maybe you can over come this fear.

CONGRATS on your award!!! Well deserved! *applause* (not even going to try that Irish version spelling ;)

Also, THANK YOU for passing it on to me. I'm honored and grateful.

The BBQ was fun...Karen's 20 kinds of awesome. :)

We have PJ Days here too! And, P&P is my favorite go-to movie for my happy place. In the winter, daughter will watch that one with me. Occasionally I'll do a Notebook PJ Day. Now, if we want a Fun PJ Day (and/or Husband is joining in on a lazy day with us) then we either whip out the Gilmore Girl dvds or the Hangover.

Love,
Lola

Just reading this made me want to put on my PJ's and watch P&P. Love that movie.

Thanks Clarissa! I really enjoyed the BBQ it was great fun.

Hi Joanna, Haven't seen that one. Will check it out.

Hi Niamh, I keep sending MC mental text messages, but she keeps ignoring me. But I am heading for a lavender bath shortly and I have feeling...

Hi Agnes, Thanks for stopping by. Lavender baths the cure for many a stress.

Hi Nicole, Yes that's the one, the BBC one with Colin Firth. On my pj's day I watch it from start to finish.

Hi Brigid, you deserve the award! I love your writing. I will be looking forward to your seven morsels of information.

Hi Theresa, I hope MC returns from her little holiday soon too. The rodent is eluding the trap set. HeyHo. Still in hiding.

Hi Kristen, Thank you stopping by and leaving a comment. I checked out your blog and yes your writing is interesting. That's why I became a follower. Give it time and followers will come. No matter how cute Mickey Mouse is, I will never be able to equate him to the rodents leaving their droppings and scurrying around behind my cooker. Yuck!

Hi Lola, You are absolutely right; Karen is 20 kinds of awesome. Ahh the Notebook, love that one too. Gone With the Wind is another PJ movie. Also Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and...well too many to mention.

Hi Liza, thanks for stopping by. The winter will be rolling in soon. Dark evenings, a hot water bottle, flannel pj's and Bob's your uncle.

Woo hoo you guys do all the work and I get the praise! That's the best kind of party! Thanks for being a part of it, Ann.

Jackee said...

Oh, man! A hot lavender bath and P&P (BBC version) sound so good right now.

But sorry, Ann, can't relate to the rodent thing. LOL! Part of my Master's thesis was collecting and IDing over 1300 rodents. :o) I have a soft spot for wild critters, as you know. (Though I admit they don't belong in cookers. lol)

Arlee Bird said...

I'm with you, Ann. I wouldn't like the rodents either. Fortunately I have rarely seen any where I live now and and have never had any in our house. I'd prefer to keep it that way.

Well done on the award - agree about rats, not about sewing. Love it, though not enough hours etc. Wasn't the BBQ fun?I found a lot of new blogs and some new followers. Hope all is well with you - we are off to Donegal tomorrow for a few days and are recovering from the busy weekend with the christening. Good times!
All the best, Catherine.

Thanks so much for the lovely award Ann :o)

You wouldn't want to live here with your rodent-fear. We have glis-glis (edible dormice) living in our walls and they occasionally put in an appearance in the kitchen when we're least expecting it. They still frighten the pants off me!

Al said...

Congratulations on the award.
I can sympathise with your MC abandoning you. Mine is being most uncooperative at the moment.

Theresa Milstein said...

Ann, you must get a cat. I had mice, and haven't seen or heard or had evidence of one since we got a cat. Their smell is supposed to keep mice and rats away. Of course, you have to like cats.

Talli Roland said...

Strange, I was sure I commented here but maybe not! I'm losing my mind.

I hate sewing too. I just can't strain my eyes like that (I sound like I'm 90!).

Congrats on the award!

Olive said...

Hi Ann! Great list, I think I would replace a cup of tea, with a strong cup of coffee; I do love my café!
And I too am terrified of and hate rodents, shudder...

Theresa Milstein said...

I want to add, I hate sewing too. In fact, I was going to be a fashion designer, but I liked the sketch part more than the sewing part.

Mary said...

Hi Ann, great list. I too hate sewing, something to do with my days at a certain Grammar School, an exasperated home economics teacher and an unfinished seersucker yellow nightdress! Wonder if it was discovered in the home economics room when the school was demolished last year?

Christine said...

Hey, thanks for hanging out on my blog this morning. Loved your comments. I just became a follower on your blog and Twitter. We're already buddies on Facebook. YAY!

Plain Jane said...

Rodents...yuck. But they are the reason we have two cats. Months of begging for an animal got me nowhere, but my husband sees one mouse and the next day we adopted a pair of kittens.

I just stumbled onto your blog, took a look around, and decided I liked it here! So consider yourself officially followed!
I like this post--a lavendar bath sounds absolutely exquisite right now!
Good luck with your manuscript! I am also a writer with dreams of being published... I've started querying my first novel (gasp)!

Congrats on your award :o) awww I love 'pet' rats. I had several while growing up. Stinky little things though haha.
