Mother Nature Glistens

Last Saturday we got our first substantial snowfall. Like all first snowfalls it had a magical, mystical aura. The glistening white glow swathed the earth and instilled a calming silence. It truly is the Winter Wonderland of song and postcard.

We went to visit our daughter after the snowfall. The beauty on the drive was captivating. I was surprised and delighted to spot a flock of wild turkey, easily seen against the whiteness of the fields. Hawks could be seen perched on branches of trees dressed only in white. Deer braved hunters and moseyed out into the openness, making for a picture perfect winter scene! I was afraid to look away in case I missed some other wondrous sight.

Yes, the first snowfall is filled with enchantment. Mother Nature dressed in glorious spellbinding beauty.

Of course I will have something else to say in a month or two….but for now, I am enchanted with the beauty and peacefulness Mother Nature has showered on us.

It certainly does look beautiful but I'm afraid my love of snow lasts for no more than about five minutes. Walking from the house to the car usually has me wishing the stuff would go away already! Take care.

Love the pictures, and I love the snow. You're right, in a few months, we all might feel differently. ;) Better enjoy it now!

Hi Ann .. that first day or two of sheer whiteness and sparkling glitter is as you say just magical ..

As Old Kitty says .. we don't get Wild Turkey around .. deer occasionally and hawks if we're lucky ..

Hope you had a wonderful trip to your daughter .. in two months .. it'll be sludge slush or you'll be buried under the white stuff?!

Cheers - have a good weekend .. Hilary

I hate snow. Give me pictures of sunsets, sailboats, and palm trees any day compared to this. This scene just makes me think "Oh great...mother nature took a crap all over everything and now someone has to clean it up."

None here yet, we still haven't recovered from last year's.

So beautiful, Ann. The first snow is so magical.

After that... not so much.

I need to move out of the city before snow begins. Aack! I'm too late. Think it will hold off until closing? I have to find a house first.

It seems so real I can almost smell it! I do remember that clean, crisp smell so well. And that's right where I want to find snow...in my memory. Beautiful pics!

Beautiful pictures. Yes, the first snowfall is always laced with magic, isn't it? Hold onto that thought.

HA! HA! HA! My word verification is (I kid you not!) "bigmess". That'll be pretty darned appropriate after the tenth snowfall of the year, eh?

Love these pictures. Thanks for sharing. Gives me the chills just looking at these pics. Yes, Its so beautiful that silence the snow brings. What an energy!

I use to live in Maine, so I know all about it.

It's in the 70's right now, where I am in Florida!

Wishing you the very best of the holiday season!

That is beautiful! We've had frost twice but that's about it.

I wrote a comment. I wonder where it went!

Your pictures are beautiful, Ann. I enjoy the first snow, but once it's digging out and trying to find parking spots on a crowded street between mounds of snow, I'm less enchanted. I wish I were moving before the snow season begins.

Wow, that is beautiful. We usually get our first storm in October and are usually shoveling by now. Not this year. My friend claims it's because he bought a new snow blower. Says it won't snow at all this year. That'd be kind of nice. Makes driving easy. :) But we're missing the pretty.

Ahhhhhh. Beautiful photos, Ann. I love them all. I love the way you described it - "The glistening white glow swathed the earth and instilled a calming silence..." That's a beautiful sentence. Thank you for these awesome pictures. Love them all.
